Both Allison Sweeney and Deidre Hall have announced via twitter that Frances Reid, who has long played Alice Horton, has passed away.

Frances Reid will be sorely missed….She was 95 years old.

Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello reports that Days of our Lives star and The Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney will guest star on Mercy in March.

We haven’t done a Hot Chick of the Week feature in a while because soaps have been dormant in the diva department. That changed for us this week on Days, when Sami and Nicole finally came face to face to deal with the baby switch debacle. Allison Sweeney rocked her scenes, bringing raw emotion to every line. The tears brimming in her eyes were real and made her scenes with Ari Zucker just that much more intense. We know we are running it into the ground, but that double bitch slap Sami served up to Nicole was H-O-T! We hope Allison Sweeney doesn’t receive the Lucci treatment when it comes to Emmy noms next year….
