Days: You Are Just too Old for That!
by Gigi on Feb.08, 2010, under Days of Our Lives, Fashion or Fashion 5-0

When Y&R’s Jana wore color clips in her hair, we accepted it. When OLTL’s Langston sported colored streaks, we accepted it. What I cannot and will not accept is the offset random blue streak that Day’s Kate Roberts has been donning. What the hell were they thinking?

We are not sure who decided to breathe so much life into Days all of a sudden, but we are sure that we love it! The baby switch reveal was one of the best in daytime history. Allison Sweeney brought it like only she can as Sami confronted Nicole about her devious machinations. Nicole denied all until her anger got the best of her and she stated that she would never hand Sydney over, no matter what. Sami had all she could take, and bitch slapped Nicole across the face. A stunned Nicole could only stand there and take it as Sami hauled off and bitch slapped her again. Nicole was eventually arrested and almost all of Salem has turned against her. Next week, Nicole will pull the ultimate heist and steal baby Sydney under everyone’s noses. So, this is getting GOOD. As if the show needed more excitement, enter Carly (in the form of Crystal Chappelle) and Vivian, and the humor factor is out of this world. More good news? Lucas is finally coming home from rehab! Look for Bryan Dattillo to start airing again on December 3.
We hope that Allison Sweeney is not overlooked when Emmy time rolls around. We’re just saying…..What do you think about Days lately? Leave us a comment below and let us know! Thanks!
Retweet this postDays: The Hourlgass is Flipped for 44th year

“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days Of Our Lives”
We’ve heard the words spoken each weekday, since November 8, 1965. Today, “Days Of Our Lives” celebrates 44 years on television. With more than 11,000 episodes, it has aired more time on NBC than all of their other programs, except the Today show. From organ music and medical mysteries to demonic possessions and everything in between, Days has failed to entertain viewers over the past 4 decades.
The show was created by husband and wife team Ted & Betty Corday. Ted produced “The Guiding Light” and was the director of “As The World Turns” from it’s debut in 1956 until 1965. Ted was brought to NBC Daytime to help them with a soap to add to their growing daytime line-up of “The Doctors” and “Another World”. He created first “Paradise Bay” and “Morning Star”. Both soaps were cancelled less than a year after their debuts. But it was Days that stayed on the daytime line-up. And in 1975, Days celebrated 10 years by becoming just the second soap to expand to an hour (after fellow Peacock sudsier “Another World”). The soap has been well-known for numerous famous storylines, including “Buried Alive”, “Marlena’s possession”, “Cruise Of Deception”, “Lady In A Cage”. And let’s not forget all the couples!! Bo & Hope, John & Marlena, Roman & Marlena, Steve & Kayla, Jack & Jennifer, Shane & Kimberly, Doug & Julie. The list goes on!!
So take a moment today. If you watched the show years ago and continue to watch, or if you’ve been an on-and-off viewer for the past years. Think about all the times that the Horton’s have hung their ornaments each Christmas. Think about where you were when Bo & Hope got married in an extravagant ceremony in England. Recall how you felt when Kayla was finally able to say “I do” to Patch at their wedding, after being mute for so long. Think about the reunion of RoJohn (referring to when Drake Hogestyn played Roman Brady) and Marlena “Doc” Evans on Salem’s Pier. Or when Carrie punched Sami, at her wedding to Austin. Just take a moment to recall your favorite stories and moments from the show. And, as always, please feel free to share them with us in this comment section!

WISHFUL CASTING: Marcy Rylan to Salem
by Peter_Adams on Oct.08, 2009, under Days of Our Lives
Marcy Rylan is best known for playing Elizabeth “Lizzie” Spaulding Lewis on the recently departed Guiding Light. The actress has made it known that she wants to remain in Los Angeles. When All My Children recently recasted the role of Colby Chandler, and Marcy wasn’t given the part, I immediately thought of one of my favorite couples: Jack & Jennifer! Who didn’t love this quirky, Nick & Nora style duo? Who didn’t love it when Jack kidnapped Jen on her wedding day to Emilio, and they rode through the streets of Salem to “Rescue Me” on a firetruck? I’ve come to terms that getting them back may not be so easy. But Days Of Our Lives ought to take a page from General Hospital. GH has all it’s major children of legacy characters on. We don’t see Laura, and Luke is on vacation for 6 months a year, but Lulu and Lucky are right there. Same goes for Maxie Jones. So why not bring the talented Miss Rylan on as Abby Deveraux? Abby was a good girl last time around, but she could return to mix it up with her cousin Nathan? Abby could live with her cousin (and mother’s best friend) Hope. Maybe Nicholas Alamain could return and he could become involved with Abby? Imagine the irony! Nick’s dad, Lawrence, raped Jennifer. That could be good storytelling!
1 Step Forward, Many Steps Back

Remember when Days Of Our Lives first brought back Patch, Kayla, and their daughter, Stephanie? Stephanie was played by a red head by the name of Shayna Rose. It was an odd choice in casting and Shayna was quickly replaced by Shelly Hennig, who actually almost looks like she could be the daughter of Patch and Kayla.
Don’t get me wrong, Shayna is a pretty girl, it was just a strange cast. Well anyway, I was watching Nick Jr. the other day with my kids that I nanny for and to my surprise I noticed a red head on the show that looked vaguely familiar. I took a closer look and sure enough, it was Shayna Rose, ex-Stephanie Johnson from DAYS! The show that she is now a part of is called Fresh Beat Band and it is ridiculou
s! This show is so cheesy that even I can’t stand it, and I do claim to be the Queen of Cheesiness! Shayna plays Marina, the drummer in the band. I’ll give it to her, she can drum and sing. She was going in the right direction with Days, now she has taken several steps back in the world of acting, at least she is working I guess!
Thanks for reading, remember you only have One Life To Live!– Jessica

The Best Damn Days Update EVER!
by Gigi on Aug.20, 2009, under 411 on Soaps Blog, Days of Our Lives
My girl Andrea (twitter name andreawilhelmi) and I were discussing Days of Our Lives and I asked her what was going down lately because I don’t have the tolerance for that show. Sorry. Anyway, this is how Andrea responded in a total of three tweets:
Well Chloe still in a coma Ciara has been kidnapped Lucas is still pucas Kates still a bitch.
Sami and Rafe broke up and Nicole is about to lose it all cause Dr Baker has come back to blackmail her about the baby switch. EJ still wants him some Sami loving as confessed to Lexie. Daniel got out of jail cause Victor ponied up 60 million you’d think that hey instead of wasting this money i could just rat out bitch Kate but she bore my children i’ll just pony up the cash.
Hilarious
Is it a fair trade?
by Peter_Adams on Jul.30, 2009, under 411 on Soaps Blog, Days of Our Lives
A sort of a trade-off, in my opinion. Days Of Our Lives fans were outraged earlier this year, and in late 2008, when Ken Corday announced the departures of Deidre Hall (Marlena), Drake Honesty (John), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), Stephen Nichols (Steve) and Thaoo Penghlis (Tony). However, fans of the early 1990’s of Days seem to be rejoicing. Crystal Chappell (ex Maggie, OLTL; Olivia, GL) is returning as Dr. Carly Manning/Katerina Von Leuschner. Louise Sorel brings Vivian Alamain back, and Wally Kurth (ex Ned, GH) is back as Justin Kiriakis. It’s a casting whirlwind at Days Of Our Lives, but people do not seem to mind. Fan favorite Sorel has been sorely missed during her decade off. It will be exciting to see what Days has in store for her as she returns to Salem.
One of the more ironic returns is that of Wally Kurth. His character of Justin was wildly popular with Judi Evans’ (ex Paulina, AW; ex Beth, GL) Adrienne. Judi, who also played Bonnie, recently departed from Days after a brief stint as Adrienne. Viewers wondered if Justin would return, and, of course, he didn’t. Now that Justin does return to Days, Judi Evans joins As The World Turns as Maeve, beginning on August 26. How ironic, indeed. I just hope that Justin brings back one of his children to town. He has 2 adopted children with Adrienne (they are twins): Victor and Joseph. He has son Alexander with Anjelica Deveraux, and he has Jackson biologically with Adrienne. Alexander would be 20 years old now, without SORASing. Joseph and Victor are both 18, without SORASing. I don’t remember how old Jackson is, but we could make him Will’s age, 16. I think that Justin’s return could be used well, especially in this Kiriakis-DiMera feud.
What do you all think of these returns? Would like to see other returns? Do you think that the firing of Drake, Dee, Stephen & Mary Beth was worth it, if this is the outcome? Let us know!
